The battery eventually loses capacity, but that's not a big deal compared to what I like about the Tab S9U. I've also not used DEX, but probably because there's no need to. The normal home screen is fine, with it's resizable popup windows. My wishlist on TS9U would be 1) auto resume multi popup app windows, 2) better pricing on book cover keyboard, 3) more easily replaceable battery (because I would keep this tablet for years). The TS9U is a terrific tablet/laptop. I use it daily for probaly 4 to 8 hours a day. I don't even have a Windows computer anymore.launch

I hate to tell you this, but you miss the whole point when you say \"DeX makes more sense on a tablet than on a phone\"... Think of all those corporate office workers who get issued both a laptop and a mobile phone. Most probably 80% of those workers only use Office applications like Excel, Word or PowerPoint along with a few web apps. With DeX, you could issue only mobile phones to all those users and no laptops (think of the savings). When they arrive at work, they simply connect their phone to their large screen and keyboard and they have a workstation to do their work.launch

I had the ipad pro max 12,9 ipad m2 and sold it for the tab s9 ultra. The tab s9 ultra is better in each way and with the special samsung deals much cheaper. OLED screen, multitasking (key future and awesome with this screen and os), writing feeling with the s-pen, split keyboard screen mode which is essential and ipad dosent have currently, charging time 1,5h compared to 3h, expandable storage, split cover, higher cover quality, better pen integration into the cover for traveling, better camera position for videocalls and much more. The productivity with it surpasses every other current tablet. Most comparisons are unfair because the tech youtuber are only used to the apple ecosystem and can't evaluate unbiased a other devise...launch

I haven't used the S9 Ultra, but I've had an S8 Ultra for about 1.5 years now. It basically is my laptop, so the price is easily justified. If you're doing something intense, like video/audio editing, it might not be for you, but if you're using your laptop for normal stuff, like doc editing and web surfing, you can easily toss your laptop for this. My only complaint is that Android doesn't offer palm rejection for the trackpad, but I typically just leave it turned off and use the pen instead.launch

As student, this is my best tablet ever, I wanted much bigger but it s not existing. Handwriting is wonderful as I write on the whole screen and a lot... I bought a case and there are 3 magnets and the pen wasn't precise on them (it was a nightmare to write)... I finally bought the Samsung keyboard case and it is working wonderfully now and the pen is very precise... Love the Ultra so much !!launch

As far as Photoshop/Photo Editing goes, one of the GREATEST features of my Tab S8 Ultra that no one talks about is the 'Second Screen' feature. SuperDisplay a $10 app works really great. The Tab S8 Ultra has basically replaced my Wacom Cintiq as my main Photoshop editing device. It's higher resolution, wireless, lighter, portable, and the S-Pen might be even better... Samsung's built-in 'Second Screen' works OK, but it used to work much better than it does now, I don't know what happened, but hopefully they will update it to work as good as SuperDisplay does. Plus, your files stay resident on your workstation and you don't have to copy files back and forth. \n\nI find that SuperDisplay works exactly the same wired or over WiFi. If there's a difference, I don't see any. As you mentioned, it's SO much better than Samsung's Second Screen. It's pretty crazy to me that Samsung definitely knows how much of a superior product SuperDisplay is and they could easily license the technology (like they do Wacom's EMR) or even purchase the company without even batting an eye, instead they ship a vastly inferior piece of software... \n\nPlus, the device is awesome all on its own... Literally blown away by how great it is! \n\nThe S-Pen is fantastic and FREE in the box. You don't need to add a paper-like screen protector ($40) in addition to the $130 you'll pay extra for the Apple Pencil... \n\nI'm a 30+ year Professional Graphic Artist. When some say that there aren't Professional Visual Arts apps on android it's just really incorrect, because I use them everyday. Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter, Concepts, Krita are just a few of the apps available on the Google Play store... There are many more... Are there a few apps available on iPad that aren't on the Play store? Yes, of course, but a good carpenter never blames his tools, and with expertise and talent you can do anything and everything on android apps that you can do on iOS apps - NO DOUBT. \n\nIf you're already entrenched in the Apple 'eco-system'... Then pay the extra $500 to $1500... \n\nUnfortunately, Samsung's trade-in's aren't great this year... \n\nTwo years ago I got the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD Tab S7 Plus in Mystic Navy it was $356 from Samsung with a Tab S4 Trade-In I got off ebay for $175, they gave me $400 trade-in credit, so my total cost from Samsung for the Tab S7 Plus was $531. \n\nI had zero intention of upgrading. Samsung then offered me more than I paid for the S7+ in trade, for a 16GB/512GB Ultra. They also gave me $200 credit towards accesories. It was kinda of a no-brainer, plus the 4-year OS updates and 5-years of security updates for $517.59. \n\nI absolutely love the Ultra, and have no intention of upgrading, especially since Samsung will only give me $650 for the trade-in of my Ultra and the total cost will be $750 for the 16GB/1TB version... \n\nMaybe next time, Sammy...launch

Confirmed it was the S9 Ultra not the S8 Ultra in the settings under About Tablet.\nThe screen is great, the responsiveness is great, the Samsung keyboard types incredibly well for what it is... \nBut the most impressive thing was how freakin LOUD the speakers are without distorting.\nI watched MotoGP videos on YouTube, turned on the \"Auto\" mode in Dolby Atmos, and couldn't believe how loud and clear it was for a tablet. Best Buy was playing music over their main speakers and I guarantee half the store could hear the motorcycle race I was watching. Engine noises sounded full and rich, the announcers sounded clear and loud. It all sounded great.\nI'm about to purchase one.launch

I went to buy one, but experiencing and playing with the demo model in store, I didn’t get even close to the same experience I had with the Samsung. Long story short, came back home and ordered the S9 ultra. Just the display itself makes it a amazing.launch

There's more differences between the 8 and 9 Ultra than people think. If you do a Quick Share side by side, the 9 is crazy faster. Quick share a 4k file and it'll download 3-4x faster on the 9.launch

Great review Chris, and can I say again how much I appreciate ypur audio and video quality, my old eyes and ears are eternally grateful. Beautiful tablet, and while I was a bit miffed by no charger in the box, the fact that it comes with SD card storage more than makes up for that deficit, if only Apple was so considerate to it's users. I can't say I'd ever buy/use a table this big, I've found anything for 11 inches is too unweildy, and even then I use a cover with a stand. Having said that, kudos to Samsung for kicking the iPad in the crotch with this beauty.launch

I upgraded from the 8 ultra to the 9 ultra simply because of the ip68 rating.i cook a lot and use my tablet to watch videos and have the recipe on hand. I'm always nervous that imma accidentally spill on my tablet. So honestly when I saw the ip68 I was like I'm definitely upgrading. It also allowed me to upgrade the storage and the ram as I got the 500gb and 12 ram last time.launch
