Multiple buyers report that RAM advertised at 5600MHz defaults to much lower speeds (4000-4400MHz) and this cannot be fixed even with BIOS updates, a known unresolved issue across Legion Tower generations.

Please note that currently, you can only configure the new Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 systems with Gen 4 NVMe drives. If you do so, the Gen 4 NVMe drives, including the main OS drive, are installed under the GPU in the Gen 4 NVMe slots! The main PCIe 5 NVMe slot, located above the GPU, remains empty and without a heatsink. Oddly, the main PCIe 5 NVMe slot is also disabled in the BIOS! Standard PC building practice is to install the main OS drive in the fastest or slot one (Main) available on the motherboard. Note Gen 4 NVMe drives are backwards compatible with PCIe 5 slots, but will run at the slower Gen 4 NVMe speeds. Additionally, the expansion NVMe slots are all Gen 4 and located under the GPU. They will not receive cooling air, unlike the main PCIe 5 NVMe slot. I spoke with Lenovo technical support about this, and they stated that if I were to install a Gen 5 NVMe in the main PCIe 5 NVMe slot or move the main OS Gen 4 NVMe drive to this slot, I would void the warranty, as I am changing the configuration! Lenovo has selected this odd configuration for the currently available Gen 10 systems. Still, they will eventually offer Gen 5 NVMe drives, and I am sure they will utilize the appropriate PCIe 5 slot to install them. As it stands now, I am returning the system, and I mention this so all customers are aware of what I consider to be a configuration error. Again, Lenovo could have installed the OS Gen 4 NVMe in the main PCIe 5 NVMe slot and chosen not to do so. Every other OEM provides the option to purchase a Gen 4 or 5 NVMe and install the main OS drive in the PCIe 5 slot, knowing the Gen 4 drives will have slower speeds. What I question is how I will know that the PCIe 5 M.2 slot can reach PCIe 5 speeds unless I purchase, install a Gen 5 NVMe drive, and activate it in the BIOS? Doing so, as per Lenovo, impacts my warranty. This is reminiscent of the Legion Tower Gen 8 systems that shipped with fast 6800 RAM. We discovered that customers who purchased 64 GB of RAM could not achieve the advertised speeds (it defaulted to 4200 or 4400 in a 4 DIMM configuration), and in fact, even using only 2 DIMMs, the maximum speed was only 5600. Lenovo changed their website RAM speed claims to the lower speeds after the issue was confirmed and couldn't be corrected due to the motherboard design. I bought this. It's a great computer, I love it. A few things- it has three m.2 slots. The main SSD is under the GPU and requires it to be taken out if you want to swap out that factory card, I swapped it out with a 4tb and put my 1tb in the below spot. \n\nYou can add two more SSD's via Sata cable on the back opposite side of the glass, sata cables are included. You just unscrew the harness from the back and screw in the drive and clip it back in. Pretty easy. The harness' are in the HDD bays below- but why even mess with HDD's.\n\nThe ram is super cheap looking and is 5600mhz. IF you're having your computer light up the room, might as well swap out that bargain bin RAM for some RGBs. The computer throttles it at 4000mhz, but can be changed in the bios to it's full 5600 and I heard by adding all 4 sticks, it defaults to that lower amount- so I just got two 32 gig RAM 6400mhz to swap that so get the most out of it. \n\nYou can add more USB C's with the PCIE x1, but the faster PCIE x4 I believe, is only available in the smaller model. I think I noticed that at the store. \n\nI got mine at Lenovo for 2k for Black Friday with a 4080 super and this thing hasn't had a hiccup with games on ultra outside of Dead Space which notoriously has issues on pretty much any platform- still one of my favorite games. And I'm playing on a 5140x1440. \n\nAnyway, great computer. These are things that I ran into, and yeah, the glass screws suck. But you don't have to remove completely, you can just have them dangle there. \n\nI just wish Windows 11 was better, but I give the computer a 9 out of 10.launch

On Gen 10 units, the main PCIe 5 NVMe slot is disabled in BIOS and the OS drive is instead installed in a slower Gen 4 slot under the GPU without airflow. Activating the correct slot risks voiding the warranty, leading one reviewer to return the unit entirely.

I would recommend you purchase the extended warranty. My new system required a full rebuild, replacing the Mother Board, GPU 4090, Power Supply, CPU 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900KF, and cooling system in Aug 2023. The system was fine until May 2024, and issues with sudden shutdowns started to occur and become more persistent. It could be the Intel CPU issue acting up but my system is now scheduled for a full rebuild again in less than a year of ownership. Well, I thought that was the case until Lenovo said they want me to send it to the depot. I paid for in-house repair and diagnostics and refused to do so. I am in the computer industry and have done all possible troubleshooting and checks to determine a cause, including tracking active processes and system usage when the issue occurs without success. I have the newest Intel Lenovo OEM BIOS to correct the Intel CPU voltage issue, but it has not fixed it. Again, I recommend getting the extended warranty for peace of mind.launch

I have this exact model. It was awesome for the first three weeks I owned it then one day while playing Cyberpunk it randomly crashed the whole PC to a black screen. After that it wouldn't run any games or any GPU benchmark software without crashing within a couple minutes of playing. It would run CPU benchmark software just fine. I called Lenovo support and was given a replacement which took nearly 2 months to be delivered. I just received it yesterday. So far the replacement seems OK. Great review BTW!launch

Lenovo restricts manual fan control to its own software, and Lenovo Vantage's RGB controls lack compatibility with third-party unification tools like Signal RGB.

Great PC. I love mine with the one exception of not being able to use Signal RGB or a 3rd party RGB software so I can syn with all my peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, etc. The Lenovo Vantage rgb is lacking a bit and again it does not work with any 3rd party rgb unifying software.launch

What about fan control? Lenovo is infamous for not allowing users to take control of the fans. With the Tower 5 desktop with the RTX 3070 and Ryzen 5800 for example there's no way whatsoever to manually control the fan speed, except for Lenovo's own crappy 'intelligent' cooling settings. You can only control the GPU fans with MSI Afterburner.launch

I have a similar build in the same tower. Something, probably the front cover, seems to resonate with the fans making it noisy. About everytime I start it up I have to lightly tap the front or move the case around to quiet it down. It keeps returning, even if the pc is not being moved from day to day. Otherwise, it's a really nice machine!launch

One owner found their liquid cooler filled with algae, rust, and gunk causing loud fan noise from overheating, and the backplate was glued in place making cooler replacement difficult.

DO NOT BUY!\n\nI just had my T7 start sounding like a jet engine. Checked the temps and in idle the computer was running at 90-100 degrees... faulty cooler. No biggie.\n\nOpened the AIO and noticed a lot of gunk in there. Tried to refill it, but it almost felt as if it was some kind of block. Tried to empty the cooler instead... out came a brownish liquid with more GUNK.\n\nOk, so I have algae/bacterial groth, and what looks like rust and other... stuff... so lets replace the AIO with the Arctic Liquid Freezer II\n\nThen the FU**\"#¤\"#¤\"# backplate is fixed in place WITH ADHESIVE and impossible to get off... and of course the mounting holes are of the wrong size so you can't interchange it.\n\nI may be repeating myself but DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF SH*T!launch
