Multiple users were surprised the M3S could handle full-frame combinations like the A7IV with a Sigma 28-70mm f2.8, or the A7C with a Tamron 28-75mm, while remaining only slightly bulkier than smartphone gimbals such as the DJI Osmo Mobile 6. This combination of portability and payload strength was repeatedly called out as a standout trait for travel and casual shooting setups.

Rebalancing remains a persistent annoyance. Several commenters described having to rebalance the gimbal every time they closed the arms to fit it in a carrying bag, or whenever they swapped lenses like the Sigma 18-50mm and 56mm. Some found the fine balance adjustments fiddly, describing an 'overshoot and reverse' pattern that made dialing in the correct position frustrating and time-consuming compared to expectations.

Mounting system trades convenience for compatibility. The new quick-release plate and USB port were appreciated by some for ease of camera swapping and in-gimbal charging, but others were unhappy that it remains a proprietary design rather than the industry-standard Arca-Swiss format. This forces users to buy third-party adapters just to use the plate with tripods or existing clamp systems, adding cost and complexity some felt shouldn't be necessary.
