I was looking at getting this receiver, but the only issues that prevented me from getting this is that it does not have 8K upgrade, and it does not support HDMI 2.1. For the price point, you would figure that it would at least support these two features as Denon's mid range receivers do.launch

Great video! I saw both parts and they were great! My take:The A2A has better aesthetics, larger capacitors, larger power supply, Dolby atmos height virtualization, removable power cord, stabilization foot for vibrations, better remote, external remote input for enclosures, 5-year warranty when you register. Read a review from someone who had both to see which one he wanted to keep, and he said the A2A clearly sounded noticeably better. Before I purchased mine, I read the comparison specs on numerous sites before I pulled the plug, and I couldn't be happier! The A2A sounds fantastic! I also heard the Denon3700, and the A2A is clearly the best of the two in my opinion (most sites compare the A2A to the 2700 Denon) coming from a previous Onkyo owner. However; I went in knowing like most about the software/hardware update and I will say from my experience the problem seems to be the first 3 HDMI ports, There's no literature that tells you if all the HDMI ports are 2.1 or the first 3 but from my testing, it's the first 3. So I have my BD Player, Chromecast, Xbox, and 4K Firestick occupying HDMI 4-7 and they work fine there for now.launch

Someone ask if the all 7 input ports on RX-A2A HDMI 2.1 ports？Your answer is yes according to Crutchfield and no according to avsforums listed below in the comments. I have checked with Yamaha and according to Phil Shea, Product Manager of Yamaha has mentioned that the first 3 HDMI ports on the RX-V6A is HDMI 2.1. Suspect that the RX-A2A is the same with the similar markings separating the first 3 from the other 4 plus similar construction. Junk sorry to tell you . Menus suck does not have much weight to it remote dose not light up . Turn nob on front feels rough . Had read Up on change the hdmi function to work with atmos . sorry was a Yamaha fan but going to try a Denon nowlaunch

God, do I HATE the aesthetics of the newer Yamaha AVRs -- it makes a LOT of sense to make the volume knob gigantic and slap it in the middle of the panel while making the much more important display tiny off to the upper right....\n\nWho actually DESIGNS these things? And I absolutely HATE the lack of a real aluminum face on these units....the shiny plastic just screams cheap.\n\nOn a side note: I was a diehard Onkyo fan and wanted to replace my TX-SR605 with a newer unit, but those dopes that design these things for Onkyo (and Pioneer, Integra and Klipsch) removed the awesome IntelliVolume feature and also did away with the front display showing the actual surround mode you're in. That's a deal breaker for me.\n\nLooking at a Denon now.launch

Great video, but this way too small and ugly display, ugly and slow GUI and plastic front panel are really an embarasment for the new Aventage series! Old similary priced RX-A880 was much much much much better in every regard (except for 8k passthrough obviously). I will not buying this new shit, i'll be probably buying back 2080 or 3080. I've owned both already, but my plan was to buy a new Aventage in 2021. And after seeing them..., no thanks!launch

Testing revealed height channel audio was mixed into the center channel, undermining the overhead effect; Yamaha acknowledged the issue and was still working on a fix even after firmware updates improved things.

I have had one for over a month now for testing. Up until Christmas Eve, it had some major issues and I could not recommend it. Now with the new firmware, it helped it a lot. 95% of HDR10 banding is now gone.\n\nAtmos high channels also sounds a lot better, but still needs work to get on the level of other receivers. If I had to put a number on it, the atmos is about 85% from being perfect. Pre firmware update the center channel would play and overwhelm the height channels and make it impossible to tell you have height/overhead speakers. Atmos was a mess. \n\nGlad to see Yamaha finally starting to work out the issues.launch

Unfortunately the A2A still suffers from HDR10 banding with 2020 model LG and Sony TVs. There is also an issue with atmos. Height channels are mixed into the center channel. Meaning the center channel is playing sounds that should only be played with height channels. Yamaha are aware of the issues and I have been helping them with some testing.launch

Some owners could not get TV audio to pass through via eARC at all, while others experienced severe lip-sync delay with LG TVs that only optical audio partially fixed.

I bought one of these a few months ago and am using it with an LG nano tv. using the EARC the lip sync is so off its embarrassing. I contacted Crutchfield where I bought it and they recommended another hdmi cable. I tried it and no difference. maybe a little difference but the picture on the tv is so far ahead its pretty unacceptable. I ended up trying an optical cable and it seemed to be the difference. I have used 2 other systems with my tv one using optical and one using hdmi Earc and I didnt have this problem with either of those. I do not have any extra processing enabled on the tv or any special modes etc. I was thinking of contacting Yamaha. I spent over 3k on my entire system and it sounds great but the lip sync is so bad. and there is lip sync correction on both the reciever and tv but they only go the other way. any thoughts aprecciated.launch

I agree great video, thanks for talking at a normal speed so I can follow easily. I'm hoping you or one of your subscribers can help me with a eARC issue. I have a LG CX65 OLED tv and of course the A2A receiver. I have all the settings on my tv as you show and a proper cable (tried a second one as well) although the tv shows the A2A as sound out I get no audio to the A2A from the Tv. HDMI from PS4 pro to A2A (then eARC from A2A to TV) plays audio on A2A and video on TV. I cannot seem to get any audio from TV to A2A on any HDMI port. Any feedback? Ideas?launch

Very disappointed with the model I purchased: the RX-A2A. The white pre-out output of the left channel connected to a power amp only worked sometimes or the sound would cut out. I proceeded to return it and acquire a Marantz Cinema 60. 15 years with Yamaha and this model has disappointed me with its bugs. Goodbye Yamaha.launch

Maybe it's just my receiver, but the RX-A2A sounds distorted in my setup.\nAudio, movies, anything, no matter the source (hdmi/bluetooth/airplay).\n\nHowever i calibrate it (YPAO) or manually, the highs sound as if they have some sort of hollow/cold tin/metal-like distortion. \nThe mids seem pretty absent and the bass seems to dominate way too much.. \n\nAnybody else experiences this or knows what the issue might be??\nTried different cables (including good 6mm), different speakers (Jamo S809 and Klipsch).launch

I have the a2a receiver and it seems to be outputting only 1080p from the hdmi port to my television. I have a samsung qled 85 and when I pull up signal info from thus receiver playing 4k content, it says 2190 x 1080. Not 4k and the picture looks horrible. Am I doing something wrong here?launch

An owner found the MusicCast app harder to use for setup than the older AV Controller app, and could not uninstall MusicCast without breaking functionality.

Great review I have RX-A2A three weeks now great bit of gear the only thing i dont like is the music cast app i think the old AV controller app was much better a lot easier to set up yamaha receivers i have tryed to uninstall music cast and go directly av controller but it wont work un less i install music cast app is there any way round this??launch
