That 'compressed' sound from ev doesn't appeal to me, the dbr has a more natural sound which was very faithful to the original timbre of the songs, very different from the evlaunch

But not flat\nYamaha sound great all around.\nBest part is here in Montreal Canada in 2022 the dbr are half price to the New zlxbt and the fact the yammies got 7 years warranty its a no brainer.\nThe bluetooth is too New techie for me old dog so yeah keep it simple and cable up for rugged /stability.\nBesides this Will prevent the bride walking Over to me asking why the hell is the music down, try explaining the bluetooth malfunctioned lol.\nNahhhhhh got to many cables..\nThxlaunch

i own DBR12 they sound fantastic!!!very loud,big sound pressure smooth sound 131 db anda garanty 500 watts of sound and cheap also!VERY RECOMEND ,U can kick out sound for 300-400 people in 40-50 metres ballroom!launch

The problem with EV is technical support in Brazil, Yamaha is very easy for replacements, I have both, two Yamaha dbr15, and two Ev zlx12p. Both are toplaunch

I think I paid $350 each for a pair back when Guitar Center had a crazy sale. These compare very well to the Mackie SRM450's first generation. If you look at the promo video from Yamaha there is a guy who goes over the construction of the DBR series and they put foam tape on not only the grille but also the inside of the front cover where it mates to the cabinet. That is attention to detail that keeps this sounding clean without any rattles! I use these for side fills or DJ monitors when my DSR112's are running mains duty.launch

While everybody's buying QSC, JBL, & Mackie, I bought 2 of these babies. I was super impressed by the sound they produce. They're also durable. I'ved dropped one of the 3 times really hard. I mean rolling on concrete slammed on the ground (not by choice of course). For the price, they're really affordable. I use them for all my mobile dj gigs. \n\nPair these with the Presonus Air 15\" powered sub for a bad ass sound!launch

Great review. My friend sells Yamaha and stopped stocking the DXR because the DBR would sell over the DXR when he played a side by side demo for his customers. The DXR is better but not by much. For the price, you can’t beat the DBRs. Yamaha purchased NEXO and you can tell they put their new engineers to work.launch

The Yamaha DBR12 sounds better, and simply has a clearer sound.  I have heard both speakers in person before.  The Yamaha DBR has the same drivers as the Yamaha DXR, just a different cabinet, and the amp has less power.  Good video!launch

Plus, the Yamaha is bi-amped vs I believe just a single amp for the EV. \n\nThe EVs are decent speakers, and we used them for monitors in a band I played in, and they worked very nicely. We set them at maybe 1 o'clock and they were plenty loud enough, and clear. Great review Lee. I have the DBR10's and compared to the ZLX12 BT, the Yamaha is cleaner and really sounds great. And Yamaha went the extra mile with an internal cooling fan to keep the expensive parts running cool. Alone or coupled with a sub, Yamaha is the way to go.launch
