I love this pedal. But why....WHY... Did you make the octave switch a switch and not a foot switch. I'm gonna have to cut up the box and put my own in but man really missed the mark with that imolaunch

My favorite fuzz. I had one for a while. The only thing that is annoying is you can't easily pop the octave on and off. The Odin fuzz is the same circuit design with just one knob and two switches to toggle the pedal and octave on and off. I have that one as well.launch

That sounds great. It doesn't fall apart as much as some others, but that could be because of your technique being cleaner than most's (definitely than mine!). I would prefer to see the octave switch be a 2nd footswitch...and the knobs on top. Board practicality over retro vibe.launch

Multiple knowledgeable commenters point out the transistors are actually silicon, not germanium as advertised or assumed, with only the diodes being germanium, causing some confusion and frustration.

Actually, as all Foxx Tone Machines (originals and reissues) has silicon transistors, but also has germanium diodes for the octave setting. Otherwise, it's a great fuzz, i love how it sounds, it screams 60's psychedelic tones, much more than other more popular fuzzes (Tonebenders and Fuzz Faces).launch

2N3565 are silicon transistors, but it does have 2 germanium diodes for clipping. And yes, it is a faithful recreation of the Foxx Tone Machine\n\nEDIT: I just wasted bandwidth by repeating what others have already said... I'm always late to the party! Lol!launch

Silicon, not Germanium.\nOpened it and looked .\nIt's a pretty nice little box, but the higher gain limits it's range and ability; I would imagine staying under the price point reflects the quality and quanity of competition.Cool if it suits your style, but there are closer copies for the same price, especially used, with a smaller footprint( though I do really like the housing).launch

Several users note there's no obvious light to show whether the effect is engaged; one clarifies the LED actually just indicates a cable is plugged in, not on/off status.

As a fuzz pedals fan, it made me decide to buy one.\n\nSo yesterday I got the purple special edition and today I had the chance to try it.\nThis is a great fuzz, fun to play, creamy and gnarly sounding when needed and the octave adds that super sound which brings me right back to the 70s!\nThe Germanium is IMHO the best transistor for a fuzz even if unstable, but the sonic performance is incomparable with the silicone; actually one of the best I own together with the SM Fuzz, the Vemuram Miryad, the King Tone Guitar Vintage Fuzz and the Boss FZ-3W.\n\nBUT there are two complains I wanna share: 1. the plugs are switched (instr. on the left and amp. on the right), so I had to use longer cables to plug it on my pedal board and this is not acceptable, especially now that ALL pedals work the opposite; I understand to faithfully recreate the legendary pedal, but I mean if you are wise, you should correct the design mistakes made at that time! \n2. there's not an on/off light so it's difficult to understand or remember after a session if the fuzz is on or off. Again here, design mistake to be corrected.\nThink about Steve Jobs who was \"stealing\" good stuff but improving them in Apple's designs...\n\nAnyway I'll keep this visually and sounding cool effect on my board for a long time!launch

Could complain that there's No LED, but it would mess up the perfect vintage style recreation. Also if anyone needs it to tell the pedal is on their ears are broken anyway. Great sound and excellent price point, especially for such a stylish box. You might be cutting yourselves a little short honestly, I was expecting $225 at least.launch

The status LED does not tell you when the pedal is one or off, it indicates a cable is plugged into the instrument jack. I understand the desire to copy the original as close a possible, but I wish they would have switch the jacks to the more standard configuration and put a useful LED indicator on top.launch

The large enclosure with controls, jacks, and footswitch spread across different edges makes it inconvenient to place and operate on a typical pedalboard.

Sonically, it seems like a great pedal.....but logistically, they have the footswitch on top, controls in the front and status light on the back...... Probably great if it's on a desktop, but if you're actually using it as a foot pedal, I'd much rather have everything on the top so you can actually see what you're set at and what you're doing.launch
