I have the 6176 unit.. never had a UA 1176 stand alone unit..but to me the 1176 had a bit more of a tube low tone to it, but in my case, that’s not an issue because I have an LA2A and a Eq-p1 pultech style clone unit from Audioscape and Tegeler, which are really good clones of the originals so I can make up the extra tone with other outboard gear easy.. and I would never buy the UA stand alone 1176 units there just too expensive. But yep there is a small difference there between them. Thanks for the test ..nice work

Thanks a lot for this great comparison! To my ears, 1176 basically sounds a bit warmer and more 3 dimensional, although I prefer 6176 when they are used in all-button mode. there is no doubt both are great units and we cannot go wrong with them.

I finally found one without the word “classics” on it. Thought I had a fake. I got mine and it doesn’t have the word classics next to UA diamond. On the picture of the order it did and my friends who ordered same one says “classics” did they just stop stamping them with that? I want to buy another but I want them to look exactly the same.
