No idea why they didn't keep the OS drive removable like the DXP4800 Plus & Pro. It's so strange. Add ECC RAM support, but make it way more difficult to install TrueNAS with ZFS which works great with ECC RAM. But with the Plus & Pro models, make it easy to install TrueNAS with ZFS by just replacing the OS M.2, but no ECC support.\n\nI'd like to see a walk through (if possible) of how to install TrueNAS on this model. I guess you'd just have to overwrite the UGreen eMMC OS drive.launch

The fact that I cannot install TrueNAS on this is a 100% NO-GO. I stopped the video once I found out about the eMMC storage. If you would have led with that, I'd have watched only the first 30 seconds. Nonetheless, a nice piece of kit for someone who is happy to be chained to the default OS.launch

UGOS needs quite a bit of work as it's a minimal viable product at this point. The lack of communication about roadmaps is lackluster and the complete lack of release notes is terrible. The hardware is pretty solid, the OS needs some serious work.launch

Coming over here to support you on YouTube also. I think they should have made it $100 cheaper for the hardware downgrade on CPU and Memory. Or if they wanted this stuff just refresh the 4800 Pro and make a v2 or something. If the unit stays at $399 for the price I think perfect but this shouldn't be close to the 4800 Pro. I'm excited they are having fun and doing cool stuff with hardware but I think they need to stay focused on the software.launch

Meh, old hardware, just more of it. Of course it is better than R1600 and V1500 used by QNAP and Synology, but just ever so slightly. Asustor has been using the much more modern Ryzen embededd V3000 since 2024.\nR2514 is basically Ryzen 5 3300U (Picasso), so the upgrade over V1500B is just Zen+ instead of Zen and the return of Vega IGP that was available in most R1000/V1000 until only R1600 and V1500B were left. V1500B has the additional drawback of having a fixed, rather low clock for achieving 16W TDP. IO is exactly the same as V1500B. So no USB4, no DDR5 and no PCIe4.0. Memoryclock only goes up to 2667 from 2400, only R2544 has 3200.\n\nI always wondered about 2x10GbE, though. They advertise it for Ryzen embedded R1000, V1000, V3000 and now P100, but not for R2000 and V2000. In the product briefs it sound like integrated MACs only needing external PHYs instead of external NICs, which doesn't make sense considering it is the same silicon as Ryzen mobile.\nFor some reason they ditched IGP for Ryzen embedded V3000, even though it would have been a big advantage over Intels IGP.\n\nConsidering the 2x10GbE eat up 4 lanes and 4xSATA another, the 2xM.2 might be Gen3x4. I don't know if the U.2 are seperate or shared with the M.2 and I don't know if eMMC and SD-reader use PCIe, the cardreader might be USB3.0. Considering the SoC has 4xUSB3.1, 1xUSB3.0 and 1xUSB2.0, it's a shame there is only 3xUSB3.1 in use and only one is USB-C.\n\nRyzen Embedded V3000 or P100 would be the only way to counter the upcoming Alder Lake-U NAS.launch

It's nice but I can't help but see the Minisforum N5 Pro being massively more modern. That thing has a 12 core 24 thread mobile Ryzen AI monster in it. This on the other hand only has an old quad core 8 thread embedded CPU from 2022. So I think they aren't even competing or one NAS is aiming at a different price bracket than the other.launch

I bought the 4800GT and it's going back. I use DLNA to play movies on my Panasonic TV and the UGREEN cannot provide the media list in alphabetical order and at least 20% of my library will not play showing 'media not supported'. My Synology DS925+ NAS does not have either of these problems. I could try fiddling with the metadata and re-encoding the files that will not play, but i don't have the motivation or time to resolve something which shouldn't be an issue. There are also no settings in the UGREEN DLNA server to sort media alphabetically. To pre-empt the obvious comments.. No i don't want to use plex as I find it too much of a faff (and I don't want to pay for a licence) and Jellyfin is not supported on my TV. I am more than happy with DLNA and its simplistic folder view. Shame because the hardware is top notch.launch
