yes the \"1gb uplink\" is strange, maybe can be usefull in something like connect a little cluster, where you dont care the speed to access the management web page, but you want 10gb for your vmotion/migration lan or for centralized storage unit. they could have do 1st 10gb poe+ in but they don't :/ . i dont like wasted port either , 4 port it became became 2 and waste the poe capabilities. and again.. in this type of thing sfp+ and dac are usefull so... very strange item.launch

Important to mention is that the 10gbe ports are shared meaning it can only deliver data from one port at a time so people have to choose. 1. Poe and data from one port then the other is disabled 2. Poe power only in one port and data only in the other. It would have been a perfect switch with two separate 10gbelaunch

The AC power adapter is sold separately and has been out of stock for months at a time, forcing buyers to use injectors or third-party PSUs; several call this inexcusable for a shipping product.

Ubiquiti sells slow PoE switches, they sell fast switches (2.5gbe or more)... but you have to pay for this switch as this is a fast and PoE switch... to make it worse it doesn't have a power supply included. I used a Ubiquiti PoE++-10G 60W 10GbE Adapter to power it, as that was cheaper than the PSU. You get 46w power budget, I think they upped from the 37w (on the video).launch

4 months later and you still can't get the power adapter. You can have them send a notice, but by the time you get the notice they are sold out. I understand there are other ways to power, but to be selling a product without the available power supply is inexcusable.launch

As I said somewhere before, I don't understand who would ever want this switch. I still don't, your choices are not clear to me because you have a 10Gbe backbone with POE+++. \nThis switch seems like a product of the marketing department which cut the cost as much as possible and witheld features as not to bite into the market of the twice as expensive XG 8 POE.\nHowever, the missing power supply, combo 10G port, so much wasted potential, no way to really utilize the ports for multiple U7 access points at 10G (XG/XGS... future-proofing)... I would spend extra money on the XG 8 POE or go for the XG 10 POE. Yes, it's expensive, but this switch looks like an important part of your infrastructure, not an end-point distribution.launch

I don't understand this device, short of it being a product of the marketing team witholding features and driving the price up for the XG 8 POE. Missing power supply, combo 10G port means 1 port at 10Gbe, no way to uplink at 10 and connect to a computer at 10... waste of time if you want to connect one of the new U7 XG/XGS at 10Gbe... not recommended from my end. Unfortunately there is nothing in Unifi portfolio between this and the XG 8 POE so 2x is actually something I would definitely spend here. The only combination where this makes sense is if you don't have a 10Gbe network backbone and your devices max out at 2.5G.launch

So many different Ubiquiti switches. Lots of overlapping features and all very expensive. Some with glaring omissions. Ubiquiti need to overhaul their entire switch line and make them simpler and cheaper in my opinion. And stop selling 1g switches in 2025!! 🤦‍♂️launch

Thanks. This video was very informative and answered a number of my questions. It's unfortunate that Unifi couldn't have just mentioned this information. I like the switch except for the design concerning the 1GbE PoE port (and I think the switch could be a little cheaper).\n\nMy use case is: use a 10 GbE port in the USW-Flex-XG as an uplink to a 10 GbE switch in my server room. Use the power adapter to power the USW-Flex-XG. Then, it would be nice if the 1 GbE port can OUTPUT power to a PoE device like a camera. To me, it's unrealistic to use a 10GbE port as an uplink and then use the 1 GbE port to receive power from another device. Doesn't make sense to me. But at least I know that I can use a 10 GbE port as an uplink, use the power adapter to power it, and then use the 1 GbE port to connect to some other 1 GbE device like a printer, for example. It would be nice if the 1 GbE port can output power if one were using the power adapter to power the switch.launch

One user found the switch effectively behaves as two separate 5-port switches internally, with only 2.5Gb linking the two halves instead of full 10Gb, and isolation inconsistencies between ports.

There’s a problem with this switch that makes me think the chip ID is either wrong or just old. Ports 1-4 and 5-8 are handled separately. You cannot isolate traffic between ports 1-4 but you can isolate traffic between ports 1-5. The connection link between the 2 sides is also only 2.5gb not 10gb. \n\nIt’s basically two 5 port switches stuck together.launch
