Multiple commenters describe replacing aging 1G infrastructure with the Flex 2.5G to match NAS units, motherboards and mini PCs that now ship with 2.5G NICs. Buyers pair it with a UCG-Max or Cloud Gateway for compact, rack-free home setups, often purchasing multiples (mini and full versions) to cover every room, citing it as their favorite Ubiquiti switch and a natural incremental step up from the original Flex Mini.

Shared uplink ports and missing link aggregation limit flexibility. The 10GbE RJ45 and SFP+ ports cannot be used simultaneously, forcing users to choose between PoE-in and 10G uplink, or between RJ45 and SFP+ data paths. Some wanted dual SFP+ or simultaneous uplinks for aggregation to a NAS or core switch. On the 8-port PoE model, ports 1-4 and 5-8 are reportedly two separate switch fabrics linked at only 2.5G, breaking full traffic isolation and confusing users expecting one unified switch.

No included power supply is a persistent, frustrating gap. Many buyers were surprised the PoE model ships without a PSU, requiring purchase of a separate $79-133 power brick or third-party/PoE injector workaround, and several report the official supply being out of stock for months.
