You guys really did a great job presenting it with much fun, esp with the “saxophone”, near the end. I had a huge laugh, and it also convinced me that this thing actually is worth buying. There is a lot of other gear that can do more for the same price, but this is hard to beat in terms of how much joy and simplicity it brings in a very small form factor, while still being able to crank out complete sounding pieces.launch

To be honest, the price is quite high but people kinda forget to incorporate the form factor and the design when they're deciding if it's worth their price/performance. It's a small, portable, and appealing little groovebox that seems fun to fiddle with.launch

I do find it interesting how many comments here already mention it being a cheap plastic toy, when it's really a dense, aluminum enclosure, solid feeling device. It's definitely expensive, but it doesn't really make sense why so many people are losing their minds over it. Just move on if you think it's too expensive?launch

been sitting with my xy for a couple weeks now. the sequencing and arranging is all just completely top notch for me. i can't get enough of the punch in effects and the step components. this really is an incredible live performance instrument in a way the op1 never was for me. my one criticism (and it's hard to understate this) is that all the synth engines sound more or less the same. i feel like they're mostly VA subtractive synths with different parameters, and they all have quite a lot of overlap between them. i find myself missing some of the engines from the op1 field which i feel are more diverse and cover a wider range of sonic possibilities. perhaps t.e. will expand the stable in future updates.launch

Vocal fry was making this a tough watch at the start...but then something happened and energy levels jumped...and it all becomes very clear...it’s certainly making the predictability, dullness and rigidity of step sequencing intriguingly fun for once. Had the OP-Z, was great but having to use a phone as a screen killed my excitement at the awesome sounds and creativity...but this does indeed make it better in almost every way. Brilliant demo irrespective of your take...and many of the features discussed were news to me despite watching a lot of others! Thanks both...I can hear the thuds of people falling off the fence thanks to this demolaunch

Have both these. Whopper set up and portable (shout out Analog cases for protection) \n\nI run the OP-1 field in on USB audio to the OP-XY. You can control the tape start from the transport on the OP-XY which is cool for getting beats over your tape loops.\n\nThese are coming everywhere with me.launch

Great run through! I think the number of synth parameters is really not bad. If you take into account the controls for filter, filter envelop, amp envelope, LFO on top of the timbre macro controls, thats like 16 parameters to get the sound you need. If I look at the juno boutique on my desk for example, that covers pretty much all the faders it has. For playability purposes I don't think any more are needed on such a small device. Otherwise you're getting stuck in the weeds of synthesis instead of using your ears. Need a more complex synth? Midi out to hardware or ios synth, multisample it.launch
