One owner of five different Poly devices found the Sync 40 was the only one that refused to pair over Bluetooth with a phone or PC, even after a Poly Lens firmware update, leaving only the dongle as a working option. Separately, a Mac mini user got speaker audio working over USB-C but could never get the microphone to function for Zoom calls, and another user's cable setup recognized the monitor's audio but wouldn't route sound through the speakerphone at all.

Multi-unit daisy-chaining and software conflicts trip up reliability. An owner running linked units said the primary speaker sometimes wouldn't enter connecting mode when the sync button was pressed, making pairing inconsistent. Another commenter reported a more severe compatibility issue: having both Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business installed on the same system caused the Poly Sync series to stop working altogether, effectively making the speakerphone useless in that setup.

Support experience and small everyday quirks frustrate some owners. A buyer who filed multiple support tickets with Poly over speakerphone issues said the team wasn't really looking into the problems and called the overall service really bad. Another user separately reported being unable to mute the Sync 40 once it was connected to a PC, an inconvenience for anyone needing quick control during calls. Together these reports suggest post-purchase support can lag behind the hardware itself.
