The images were stunning. I love how poor weather can make for amazing photography. \nAlso, that camera is to die for. So much detail that you could probably get a second image from the first by cropping right into the berries and still be able to print big. thanks for this well done :) that rock formation was really cool. the other things that are cool about the PhaseOne are medium format, large sensor with large pixels (?) on it and 16 bit so you get much more tone variation in the image and a higher dynamic range. God bless you :)launch

Thomas, I saw your video. The Phase One camera is an amazing piece of equipment. I was lucking to start out with their system about 9 years ago. Without a doubt this is my go-to camera. I have also upgraded as each new camera has come out. I currently use the IQ4-150 system. I've shot lots of panos with this system. Somehow, even though I have other premium DSLRS, it is the Phase One that goes everywhere and I shoot 90% of my shots with it. The color and the tones in the resulting images are simply amazing. All together this is my third body / system from Phase One. When a new system comes out my Phase One dealer takes my older Phase One in trade. So the financial pain of moving forward is much more affordable. Getting the first camera was the big hurdle. Cheerslaunch

Wow, Phase One goes from strength to strength. The XF is a fantastic camera, feels fantastic in the hand.. love the lenses and the backs are incredible. Costs an arm and a leg, but there is nothing like the medium format look. I feel sorry for Hasselblad. Since the 1970's Mamiya was eating their lunch, then Phase bought Mamiya and have continued that process. 150 freakin' megapixels! That is crazy and amazing all at the same time.launch

Thank you.....still debating if i want to trade my XT for this one...i do love the portability of it and the tilt shift on the XT isn't really a big advantage ,perhaps with the new lenses Rodenstock just announced there is an advantage but i own the 40mm tilt and is really not all that much in my opinion.....launch

yes, the XT is an interesting product, the Frame adveraging in my understanding is simmilar to the Hasselblad H6D's multi-shot back; it allows a bracketing of exposures to account for highlights and shadows in the scene, giving a chance of capturing them inside the dynamic range of the sensor, if it can't , this is where these features come into play, taking a shot under and over, but not leaving them in separately on the card, NO, they combine the 150 or so shots into ONE file!, with All the dynamic range of the scene, irrespective of the sensors' capabilities. Also the XT has encoders for the shift and rise, so any distortion can be accounted for, and corrected in the software afterwards.launch

also you got the idea of frame adveraging wrong, what it is for, like timelapse photography, is to remove noise and \"hot pixcels\" created by long exposures, so frame adveraging takes a \"burst\" of exposures at 1/5 of a second for eg. so you only get the noise accumulated over this shorter timeframe, and all these shots are \"adveraged\" to one still shot, like a focus stack, but importantly IN CAMERA, and without having to rely on other software, and also minimising any corrections needed afterwards, saving what colour and exposure data was captured, not tossing it needlessly, as would happen if you had to crop away a vignette, or have to darken the whole picture because it was over exposed.launch

On technical bodies paired with the IQ4, shift/rise encoders let Capture One automatically apply lens corrections and vignette fixes based on movement coordinates, eliminating manual LCC work. Amazing camera! For someone who spent years shooting 4x5 I really like the vertical and side shift feature. And the start up time is a non factor after all the time I spent setting up the 4x5 for each shot. Looking forward to seeing more of your shots with the IQ4. And, as someone who has been there with the vehicle camping, I agree totally with your choice of the free apartment. Hell yeah! :)launch

no need to use lcc, or anything else ,manually that is; that's why the iq-4 has the coordinates on the lv screen! they are used in Capture One to decide how much lens correction to apply, and this is based off of the database of coordinate positions, ie: the more extreme the values, as they aproach max values, more correction is used, and for edge shots, the vignette is corrected for. This is all done by factory testing, and ensures no other third party software (helicon focus, for eg.) is required for this, just focus and shoot!!launch
