I have issues with the screen, it gets dark and fn+F2 does not work, I already upgrade windows and went to default values on the Bios, still the screen is dark once I close return to normal but just for few seconds, can you please give me any advice on taht issue?launch

So I watched this on my CF-31 and I agree with most of the things said, however I will give a warning to anyone looking into getting one. They are VERY LOW POWER for modern computing using opera gx my fan sounds like a jet engine while the video plays at 360p. They are good for low cost work laptops but I'm looking into upgrading mine and installing a Linux distro as the current windows updates can sometimes crash the laptop.launch

My Mk 3 CF31 definitely has an issue with the fan and cooling for the internals. Front left corner of the system gets noticably warm/hot when in heavy use. System has been bsod-ing a bit more lately and it also has a classic Windows update fault with Win 10 pro (Error 0x80073712) that I fixed once about 2 yrs ago by doing a full fresh re-install but it's happening again.launch

Hi Bob, I find the fan coming and revving up and down to be a pain and distracting, I am guilty of hitting the Fn F8 and turning it off. Also, Ive got a old cf-31 Mk1 I think. Which model is the fastest and capable of the most ram. Ive got a i5 M520 @2.40ghz and 8 gig of ram. Would like more grunt as I do a lot of mapping software work and it struggles with large track logs. Any advice is most appreciated...launch

Bob, CF-31 has an issue with the curser, there is a spot on the screen and a 2nd curser floats around the 1 in circle. The mouse pad has no effect on it or does a USB mouse. A second curser works sometimes but doesn't open windows all the time. I changed the mouse pad but no change. I was thinking maybe the LCD screen? Any Thoughts?launch

Hi Bob, I have a new to me CF-31 with what seems to be a shorting touchpad. \nThe cursor stay in the middle and even with the thing turned off inthe bios and rebooted with a cordless USB mouse plugged in does not change.\nCan I open 'er up and just unplug the ribbon cable, maybe put a peice of tape over the connector? Think that will let me use a mouse?\nOH, no OS, no HD booting to a live CD loaded USB stick and yes I moved it from port to port trying it.launch

Older Marks, especially Mk1, run into missing or broken drivers (touchpad, chipset) when upgrading to Windows 10, sometimes forcing a downgrade back to Windows 7, and even-numbered Marks see BSODs after updates.

These things keep going. I have several the started out with 2g RAM and Windows 7 that made the transition to Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and now Windows 11 with 8g Ram (Mk1) and 16g Ram (Mk3 and Mk5) and SSDs they run as good as a new Dell Rugged. The odd number Mk seem to be the best (1,3,5). I’ve only had issues with Mk2 and Mk4 (mostly Intel chipset drivers causing BSOD after windows update) the odd number Mks have been bullet proof and should soldier on through Windows 11’s lifespan.launch

I have a CF-31 that I use in the field extensively to program two-way radios. It's the most reliable laptop I've ever owned and I can say that it holds up to wear and tear incredibly well. The only issue that I recently ran into is that because it's a MK1 it cannot be upgraded to W10, and some of the newer two-way radio software does require a W10 environment. You can upgrade the laptop to W10, but, several of the drivers are not compatible with W10 and Panasonic has not updated drivers for the CF-31 to accommodate W10. A good example is the TouchPad and Mouse driver, it just doesn't work. I downgraded back to W7, and that's just fine, this laptop will continue to be my go-to unit for field work for many more years. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed your comments. OK, now I know I can add a second battery, I did not know that!launch

How do you get around the Dynamic Power Performance Management software being not compatible with Windows 10. Even after a manual uninstall of this software Windows 10 will not load. One Issues I found with the CF31-mk5. Is that it will not detect nor boot a 4tb SSD in The Main drive caddy. However it will detect and boot a 2tb SSD .Just not a 4TB or Larger. The only way around it is to put HDD caddy in the optical drive bay. Which is stupid. I do not know if the Mk6 has this issue.launch

It's an old design. Designed before NVME drives even existed. It still has PCMCIA slots no less (mine does anyway). That said they're durable as hell. Mines a dedicated PI Hole server these days doing ad blocking on my network. I'd get the CF-33 instead if I was buying today. I use a 33 for my daily use.launch

I have had the CF-19, CF-27 and CF-31. It seems as if after a couple years, even with a full battery, they wont power back up unless you apply the charging cable. Is there a fix for this? I have searched quite a bit for this problem and couldn't come up with a post or resolution to this problem. Thank you.launch

I have the C 31 it has the slot for the Sims card to get 4G LTE and I called Sprint which is my carrier with all my phones and they don’t know what the hell I’m talking about and it’s supposed to be good for Sprint Verizon and AT&T but if I go with a carrier where I don’t have my phones it’s 80 bucks a month do you know exactly what card I need so I can talk to Sprint and get thatlaunch

F11 is usually set as the Emergency key by dispatching programs for law enforcement. Same as an orange button on a two way radio. When using Computer Aided Dispatching software it will send a signal to dispatch. \n\nDrivers are actually probably the easiest to get. They are all on Panasonic’s website, you just choose the model computer you have and the operating system and it will bring back what applies to it. \n\nThe SIM card slot will not work unless you have an air card in the computer. If you have one, then you need the program from the cell provider to use their SIM card. The Air Card is also carrier specific, some or only for certain carriers or there is a multi carrier which allows Sprint, Verizon and ATT all off the card. \n\nThe antenna pass through on the back is only for a docking system, and can be set to be a WiFi, cell or GPS through BIOS.\n\nReinstall audio drivers, it will probably help with your sound issues.launch
