Valve amps get that benefit of getting reaalllll loud and being able to be tiny. They aren't exactly like tube amps, but they abide by a similar principle in how it handles volume, so 20 watts is loud for most venues if you want to gig with it. This is great because I'd like to just lug around a board and a 60 watt orange cab instead of the alternative of getting a high wattage solid state amp and a cab to go with it. They also tend to be a bit less volume demanding, so you can still get great tone without pissing off your neighbors as you practice for the 5th hour of the night. \n\nThey shockingly do the classic Orange clean tone sound. I know you focus on metal, but the shape tool helps dial in a classic Orange sound for cleans shockingly well from other videos I've watched, and its impressive that with very minimal knobs and a few pedal footswitches, you can get a large array of sounds. \n\nI thought I'd be disappointed watching videos of a $200 amp, but Orange delivers perfectly, and it's the reason why I like primarily using their hardwarelaunch

I got rid of all my big heads and 4x12 and now have this and a 1x12 mesa cab and a bunch of pedals and for my room i actual sound better. That shape knob is really powerful too but you dont really need to move it far from 12 o clock to get a good sound. Excellent playing pete :)launch

I just built a 2nd, smaller board based around this amp. It is very loud. I'm yet to try it live, but I will soon.\nIt was hard finding the right pedals to pair with it for my liking, running it cleanish between 10 & 11 o'clock on the gain and shape control between 12 & 1 o'clock. \nIt seems to work fine with a TS9 type overdrive and a Boss DS-2. Mode I of the DS-2 into this amp seems to nail the Smells Like Teen Spirit sound, which is cool.\nI find it runs out of headroom pretty quick, but it's loud to start with. I also run a limiter before the input to keep the difference between my \"clean\" and distortion tone closer together. Otherwise it would be a case of going from not loud enough to too loud.\nFor recordings I'll definitely find this useful for higher gain rhythm tracks, no pedals required. Gain at 2 o'clock sounds great - any more than that and it starts to lose some mojo IMO.launch

Iv been using the stamp for sometime now, I have it going into a Musicman 4x12 and it’s so dam loud, it’s super loud, I only use it in a band setting and we play in a huge venue it’s like an airplane hanger and I don’t mic up!!, it’s in stereo with with a musicman HD 212 150 watt tube amp going into another 4x12 and it keeps ups, and that’s playing clean no break up with pedals for dirt.launch

I got one a month or so ago. Frustrated I can't play it on a stage yet. I can't believe how loud it is. I've yet to compete with a drummer for volume, but for my band I'd say it'll be plenty loud enough. I only find the shape control useful between 11 and 1 o'clock and I really don't like the cab-sim sound, but it sounds like a BIG amp to me through even my 1x10 and my 1x8\" ISO cab in the studio. Try it with gain at 10.30 and put a bluesbreaker pedal in front of it... Magic!launch

I love the Terror Stamp, constructed my whole pedalboard around it. I set the gain to 10 o'clock and use a Friedman BE-OD Deluxe for distortion. Before COVID I was using it at rehearsals with a heavy rock band and had no problems hearing myself. Built-in FX loop is a bonus feature, I like to put a boost or eq in the FX loop for some extra volume.launch

I'm afraid to say that this thing (these things - I now have two) is so good that I'm using them exclusively. My Katana 100/212, Katana Artists (I have two), Brent Hinds Terror, Rocker 15 Terror are all just gathering dust at present. This is proving to be a very protracted love affair. I'm eyeing up the Orange Amp Detonator ABY pedal to go with these Terror Stamps. I think that might be interesting. And of course could use Detonator with any pair from my wardrobe of amplifiers (if and when I go back to them). Very happy days at present.launch

Multiple commenters plan to or already use the Terror Stamp as a compact backup rig for gigs in case their main amp fails, valuing its small size in a gig bag or on top of a cab.

I always bring a second amp to a gig...it has bailed me out so many times when my main amp stopped working. I bring a tweed Blues Junior which is still pretty small and easy to carry and certainly loud enough. But this micro amp you demo'd is a great choice as a backup and great if you need to fly out.launch

Just snagged one for a back up gig amp. If the tube amp goes I’ll use the amps speaker and the stamp. If the speaker goes I can use the line out or cab sim to the PA! It’ll fit right in the back of the amp ready to go if needed. It will be perfect if we can ever do gigs again, and will be a fun piece of gear till then!launch

They really tuned this little amp well. I'll definitely consider this a really good stand-by / back-up amp for gigs if things were to go sideways with my main amp. Great playing as always. Bought my OTS about a year after they came out. I found the distortion a little harsh with the gain past 3 o'clock-swapping the valve for a JJ was simple and solved the harshness problem-make sure you are disconnected from the mains before you open it up! It does the job very well as you can hear. My only slight criticism is that it can sound a little boxy with the \"shape\" control below about 10 o'clock-depending on the guitar-so either keep it above this point, or run a graphic equaliser through the loop or up front. The footswitchable master volumes are a great live tool to switch from rhythm to lead sounds.launch

Fun fact. Inside there is a gain trim pot. I set mine 1/2 down so at max gain just gets to “distortion” territory and gives you more of a clean / overdrive sweep.launch

Sounds great. The gain seems to take on a fuzz character after mid-way on the dial, which was also my experience with the micro dark. Useful, but wouldn't be my main high gain sound. Can anyone speak to how well it takes an OD boost, or a full-blown amp-in-a box drive medal like the Angry Charlie?launch

i love the sound of the Micros, I have a micro dark. I heard a micro terror with a mesa 12AX7 STR in it, it sounded great. These sound great too. The circuit sounds best for lead tones. A 12AU7 will make it a really nicely detailed clean preamp. These are great for tube rolling, as there is no guesswork, lol.launch

I bought this and can’t recommend enough. It’s really great for bedroom/apt playing where playing loud is an issue. This pedal produces great sound at low volumes. Clean, Blues, Classic Rock, High Gain. All really pleasing sounds at low volume. I own multiple distortion/overdrive pedals and they all sit unused since I purchased this. Two thumbs up🤙🏻🤙🏻launch

I have this pedal and love it. It’s great for bedroom/living room players like me. Great distortion/feedback at low volumes, takes other pedals very well and you can get a range of tones just from the pedal itself. I’m a classic rock guy and this gets tones from SRV to Judas Priest and is pretty convincing. I stack it with a Boss Blues Driver and a Boss Sustainer Compressor and get tones that I love and that inspire me to pick up my guitar. Great pedal from Orange IMHO.launch
