The autotune is really helpful for those gigs where you’re in a small room with lots of bass buildup/standing waves that mess with your pitch perception — I wouldn’t use it all the time, but for those days where you can’t hear yourself or you’ve got a cold, etc, the pitch correction really helps tighten things up. Is it cheating? Maybe. But if it helps me play a show with a cold when I otherwise couldn’t…Who cares?launch

I would love to switch to this coming from original headrush pedalboard. However, as a duo or solo performer, I do not need all that amount of processing on the mic. I would only require one or two slots (Harmony and something else. If the rest can be freed up for the guitar processing would be ideal. Perhaps in a future update we could be able to choose how many slots for vocals and how many for guitars.\nThe way it is setup now I would only have 7 slots left for the guitar so typically I would have comp-boost-OD-Dist-Amp-Cab-Trem-Delay-Rev.........Typically that is 9 slots or more required, however, the current setup only leaves 7. Just a thought.launch

Great Vid Sean a better demo than most out there. Good song! \nSo I just got the Core a week ago (in spite of Auto-tune! and all the many, many other effects on it) and am just getting into it . I am a solo performer ( some times Duo). Like you, I wanted something relatively small and simple to set up.I play at jams, open mikes an small places. With this I can have my mic & guitar and plugged in to the board in less than 2 min. I can exit just as quickly. I have complete control of my sound and not have to depend on someone without a clue. It's amazing to be able to switch between acoustic and electric, Sometimes I use backing tracks, no problem their all loaded on the core. The looper and loading music files that can play -repeat sections for practice I find incredibly useful. For the most part I'm finding it to be fairly intuitive to operate, and so easy to make changes.launch

Great info. I just ordered the Core and am waiting for it now! I had the MX5 but wanted to upgrade it and ended up going with another brand. After looking into and trying out other units, I realized that I really like Headrush. I can use the headrush like a traditional pedal board where I can turn on and off individual pedals. I prefer that vs setting up different scenes I am switching between. I find that doing that I end up spending more time configuring vs playing. Whereas with headrush if I want an overdrive I can just add it in a few seconds and turn it on/off quick. Also, I thought I wanted an app, I know the core you can use the app, but I realized I don't really care much about that when I ended up getting a unit with one. The touchscreen setup for heard rush is really easy and nice to use, to me it beats the app especially on the core with the bigger screen (although I haven't tried the headrush app yet).launch

I sold my original Helix to get one of these. The touch screen alone is reason enough. The ability to change the signal path and assign pedals to footswitches with the touch screen is a game changer, as compared to nonstop twisting of dials on the Helix. I don't miss the built-in Helix expression pedal, because the only thing I ever used it for was wah, and I can just use an external expression pedal on the rare occasions I use that. That makes for a smaller footprint which is another advantage. Tones are easily as good, and it's less than half the price.launch

Don't have this unit ... but certainly like the LCD layout showing you nice graphics of what you are using and how fast and easy it was to put a chain together. I also like the fact that there is plenty of space between the buttons so you can't accidentally click the wrong thing live. So many good choices out there and looks like another good one to consider. Seems like it's priced just right as well. Thanks Darrell. Always appreciate your reviews. 👍launch

When I got into modelers I picked up a helix. The community around helix hated headrush to no end, I took their word for it and moved on. Eventually picked up a fractal and I thought it sounded better. Then fractal community hates on everything. Thought about a quad cortex, but so many people have problems with theirs. First time I ever looked at a head rush and I don’t get why it is hated on by everyone. I think people just love to hate.launch

Great review. I appreciate how thorough you are. Of course nothing beats a real amp and pedals, but out of all the units I’ve tried ( Quad Cortex, Boss GT100, Tone Master Pro and the Line 6 HX lineup) I stayed with the HeadRush Core. I also like the Line 6 lineup but the Helix was too big what I needed. The HR Core is a better size, easy to use and with the right IR combination, it’s not bad for digital. I've been using a Headrush Gigboard for several years and love the versatility of it for studio recordings and live gigs. Tons of choices with regard to amps and effects and regular updates from Headrush with software updates and new gear choices. I've used other modelers in the past and I feel the Headrush is the most practical and enjoyable to use.launch

I have the Prime and the Core,.the Helix LT and the Kemper. All really good and pros and cons but I use them for different things. Kemper for home recording. Helix for patch building because as shown in this video it's currently better for circuit construction. Prime for my full band rehearsal and gigs. Core for small shows and open mics etc. I really like that you can clone pedals on the Headrush and you can clone Kemper clones into the Headrush too.launch

I would go for the Prime, personally, but I like my expression pedal and the cost of this and an expression pedal is basically the same price as the Prime with built in expression pedal. Can see getting this if you need a little smaller or don’t care about an expression pedal.\n\nAnyone thinking about getting one and going somewhere you can try it out, the presets dont do justice to the tones you can get. Also custom IRs sound WAY better than the cabs.launch

Great video! I think Nate and Elize were great guests to bring on, they knew their stuff and the demo sounded amazing. I want that Toxic cover on Spotify.\n\nLove HeadRush's stuff, I have a Prime and it's killer. Core seems like a neat desktop-version of that, much like the Gigboard was to the Pedalboard - fewer buttons, no expression pedal built in, but much easier to fit on a desk and with pretty much the same internals.\n\nAs an added bonus, unlike Pedalboard-to-Gigboard, the amount of connections seems to be the same as on the Prime as well - including the all-important XLR outs. So that right there is a reason to upgrade from a Gigboard.launch

I know it's kind of counterintuitive, but I actually want to clone the Derailed Ingrid model on my hx stomp xl on this, as it's my favorite amp model when I use a wampler pantheon.
