I have a 30x45 cm print of one of our cats. Shot with an X-E2 and the xf 50mm f 2.0. It's amazing, better than what I got out of 135 films even with an Ektar 25 and a 135 f 2.0 Nikkor. I got it out again, this Camera has a pleasant look tending to a more analog look and feel. The auto white balance is far superior to the Nikon D700, which I recently compared and I was positively surprised. The new Fujis are faster. Nevertheless, the result I like even more.launch

i have XS10, XE2, XE1 and XF10; played with my frd's XE3 for quite some time.\n\nXE2 is simply the one i enjoy to shoot with the most with a manual artistian lens. It just feel so much like shoot film, the look, the feel, the photo color and texture. but the auto focus is pretty shit for video though...\n\nthat's the only struggle with it, and indeed if u are a photographer, it's a no brainer, hands down the best fuji camera i have ever seen, XE1 on the other hand is toooo slow and the feeling is wierd, it feels really like CCD low budget digital camera, dunno how to describe that, and the MAnual zoom in button is bad...\n\nXS10 is simply a powerhouse, but just feel like digitall camera, nth wrong with that, color, image looks super good; but just feel like sth missing...feels using a sony more that a fujji... but super camera though....launch

My first Fujifilm rig, was the X-E2s (I still have it), originally borrowed from a fellow shooter and friend. After lugging Canon rigs all over the map for several wire services and newspapers from 1981 up until 2016, I was done with photojournalism and heavy cameras, I needed a change. I had heard a lot of good things about mirrorless cameras (and some negative views as well), so I rented a Sony A7RIII in ‘17 and an Olympus OM-DE Mk10 a few weeks later…eh…not that impressed. However my aforementioned friend who was shooting with Fuji at the time. lent me his X-E2s, well, I was sold, Fuji had stolen my heart. I bought the camera from my friend and sold most of my Canon gear (though I did hang onto one of the F1s for old-time's sake). I quickly built up my Fuji system which now includes an X-Pro 2, X-Pro 3, X-T3 an X-T5 and of course my treasured X-E2s, along with a plethora of Fuji glass. The X-E2s is not going anywhere, she is still crankin’ out some stunning images.launch

Three years ago I bought beloved X-E2S for 150 eur, used of course, very satisfied. Paired with 18 f2 it is all the time in my car as lightweight combo to explore cities, nature, family events sometimes. I have also X-T10 that I use with vintage lens but somehow prefer E2S. This sensor, in both is the same, makes, for me, the most pleasing pictures. X-T2 as my performance camera, produces more accurate colors and can be cropped more, but X-E2S is my favorite.launch

And here we are, two years since this video was made and the X-E2 is hovering around $500 and the X-E1 around $350+ (not to mention the X-E4 at $1250!). I cannot recall any other brand of digital cameras holding their value as well as Fujifilm. Not a complaint, love their cameras and happy my Fuji gear commands strong resale value.launch

The XE1 and XE2 following have almost become a cult. I can see why, holding one in your hand, you want to take pictures. It has this retro feel, nothing plasticky like many other DSLR cameras. The camera is simple to use if one is not gadget savvy. The pictures taken are simply stunning. I have the XT1, which I also love, XPro2, XT20, X10 and XF1. They are all well-built cameras. The XE2 stands out being an exception with the ergonomics, for me personally. I picked it up last year for under Cdn $400, in almost mint condition. It was a steal.launch

A friend sold me his X-E2 in perfect conditions for 200 Euros in 2018, still loving the camera, take her always on my travels all over Europe. Great for street and landscape. I just looked up for prices in Austria: Found a used X-E2s for %90 Euros (590 US-Dollars), crazy :-)launch

Love the x-e2 just for it´s simplicity, the jpgs and the mechanical shutter-sound. It reminds me so much of the minolta SLR I started photography with.\nI just got myself a beautiful black x-e2, because I gave away the first one I owned to my father a few years ago. It´s kinda my third camera beside the x-pro 2 and the x-t3 and I wouldn´t consider it for paid jobs, but I guess I´m a collector now...launch

I have the X-E2s and agree with all of your points.\n\nThe 16mp sensor is perfect for the original trio of Fujifilm XF lenses, the 18mm f/2, the 35mm f/1.4 and the 60mm f/2.4. I have newer lenses and more modern bodies, but that X-Trans 2 with these first generation lenses is as close to a film-like rendering as anything digital for me.\n\nmy X-E2s get plenty of use even though I have several current models.launch

As a purely stills shooter the X-E2 is a personal favourite of mine, it is just the right size for my hands with the added grip, it feels solid, it has the right balance between simplicity of operation and customisation and pairs well with the small f2/f2.8 primes. It also offers fantasic value in my market at only $160, so much so that I have bought several to ensure I will always have one throughout my photographic life should they eventually pack in and become scarcer in the future.launch

Xe2 is the greatest everyday Fuji camera ever made. Sure the new bodies have better CPU's inside of them, but the combination of the solid feel and satisfying clack of the shutter to the xtrans2 sensor (the best looking fuji sensor), I don't believe Fuji ever made a better general purpose camera.launch

Great review! I have experience using X-E1, X-E2 and X-E3. I am still using X-E2 and X-E3. I like the faster AF speed and larger pixel count of the X-E3, but X-E2 is the more enjoyable camera to use. What I love most about the X-E2 is the D-pad. it provides 4 additional function buttons, so you don't need to use the screen swipes. I really hate the screen swipe functions on digital cameras because it gets activated unintentionally all the time! Oh and the x-trans 1's pixel count is actually 16MP, just like the x-trans 2. The main difference between the two, I believe, is the addition of phase-detect sensors to x-trans 2.launch

Hi Craig - I enjoyed this style of video - a bit less regimented than a 'standard' review. I've now settled on an X-E1 and an X-E2. I like the simple control layout - it means I don't have to think too much about the camera! I bought both cameras recently and they were a similar price (just under £200 GBP, although the X-E1 was from a dealer, so I could have probably bought one for less privately. They're both mint though). I sold an X-Pro1 as I prefer the size and weight of the X-E1. I found I didn't use the OVF on the X-Pro1. Subbed on the basis of this vid!launch

Oh, dear, I believe I have GAS. I had seen an E2 on the local marketplace, at a price comparable to that available at multiple vendors online. Then the seller lopped $100 off the price and I was done. No lens, but I picked up a few adapters and have been playing with my vintage lenses, but am stuck inside with a foot of fresh snow on the ground and frigid temps. My FIRST Fuji camera! It already has the firmware update. I do have a kit lens on the way to give me a start with a native lens until I can figure out which direction to go. I already like the simplicity of the menu system compared to the Sony or Olympus that I already have.launch

Good insights. I have the X-E1 and the X-T1. Love them both and totally agree with your comments on the differences between the sensors. I prefer the large buttons on the X-E1 to the flat almost flush X-T1 buttons. Plus while the T1 has front and rear dials, they are not pushable so I miss that natural, fast way to check focus. I think an XE2 might indeed be the perfect x series camera as you’ve suggested. It doesn’t have the touch screen swipes that are on the E3 and E4, and that’s a good thing IMO.launch

Thanks for the Video. I bought the X-E2 after the X-E1 it order to replace it. But every time i pick up the X-E2 it feels a little unfamiliar compared to the X-E1. The screen feels to big with less space for the thumb and navigation. The Q-Button seems to be in the wrong place. But technically the X-E2 is the better camera. I love both but the X-E1 will always be my favourite. By the way - the X-T10 is great too. But it feels chaper, rubberized parts get sticky and the viewfinder in the middle is less convenient.launch

The X-E2 is much better than the X-E1. So much faster in all areas. If you are patient you can pick up a mint X-E2 off ebay for around abouts £200.00. I did!\n\nPut the 35mm f/1.4 on the X-E2 and you will be ever so happy with the results! ... especially in B&W. You will be so happy... you will have a huge happy grin on your face!launch

the X-E2 is definetly sharp. wanna know why? The X-Trans 2 is the last sensor that does not use an antialiasing filter in front of the sensor from Fuji. As you probably know already, the AA filter is here to prevent shimering color abberation that would occur on lines that are very close together, like textile. Only that applies to Bayer sensors after a certain resolution. The X Trans is prefectly fine in that regard at 16 MPx (they had to pu one for X Trans 3 and 4 though) meaning that images are sharper than for other cameras with AA filter at that same resolution.launch
