I think sound bars for a gaming setup make a lot of sense. I have been using one for years and even switched the main TV over as well. Less clutter and the overall quality is at a pretty high level for not much money nowadays. I don't think you can go too wrong with Creative at the price points they hit, I still have their CAL over ear headphones, which for the money are quite good and have been the basis for a lot of great mods like E-MU Purpleheart.

I think if this was a bit cheaper, I would be all-in. Alternatively, you can get a nice DAC + Speaker AMP + Bookshelf speakers + a powered Subwoofer for close to the same price. With it, you gain flexibility in that you can upgrade, replace, and swap each of those components. But there is a great argument for having it all-in-one here, in that it is much less of a hassle.
