I have the pro 2, pace 2 and pod 2 😂 love them all. Did a test today on the pro 2 vs pace 2 with pod 2, 100 meters off in distance and the lagging pace you bring up are really big without the pod 2 between them. So if you don’t need mapping i recommend the pace 2 with the pod 2, half the price of the pro 2. + pace 2 have ant+ which pro 2 don’t have. \n\nI’m beta testing effort pace on the pace 2 right now and that Will be amazing for us runners. Easier to understand then power.launch

Effort pace is just the old Adjusted Pace, which is just Coros's way of saying, we want our own name for the market-wide accepted term and protocol for Grade Adjusted Pace.\nIt is literally exactly identical at the moment, they just say that they are going to include more variables in the future, whenever that may be.\n\nAlso a very important thing that isn't mentioned in this video: Coros watches and Coros Pods are only compatible with other Coros products and Garmin or Polar products can't be paired with Coros products. Which is really annoying.launch

No ANT+ 😱 coros is following in the footsteps of Suunto and Polar. I do a lot of indoor riding. I need that powermeter to connect to bothy iPad and my watch at the same time. There are no dual frequency Bluetooth power sensors so this watch is a no go for me. Again!!👎 Vertix 2 let me down and so is this one. I'm sticking to Garmin for the foreseeable future i guess. FR955 Solar seems to keep checking all the sports watch boxes more than any other watch out therelaunch

Same body design, same biggish bezel,\nSame stupid design in the bezel, smaller, more $$$. \nSo this is what we get for the next 3 years now? \nThe Vertix was way to big for only having one size. Which was a fail and cut the buyers for it down by a big %. Honestly I don’t see Coros sticking around to long at this rate. I know numerous people who have already left Coros and gone back to Garmin and Suunto. \nCoros is the company that does as little as possible to still stay in business.launch

Hey great review. I'm honestly feeling a little underwhelmed for this release. The screen looks super dull, I dislike the map mode that is not routable and no labels. There really seems like there's nothing new here from what every one else is doing. For my money I would definitely go with the Garmin option. I think an interesting comparison would be with the new Amazfit Falcon, which seems much more versatile with similar durability (except for onboard maps).launch

Dr Will- I had my COROS Apex 2 Pro and had to return it after a month of using it for my fall marathon buildup this year. The wrist heart rate sensor would start out ok but in the middle of runs would spike up to Max heart rates (195+ bpm) for long periods of time (5-25 minutes). COROS and I tried to troubleshoot it: I shaved my wrist arm hair and then I wore it on the inside of my wrist. Nothing we tried fixed the issue. I never had this issue with any of my previous garmin watches. COROS customer support was frustrating when they mentioned that I should probably just use an external heart rate monitor. \n\nI ended up going with a Garmin forerunner 965 and have not had any regrets. Some of my other issues with the COROS Apex Pro 2:\n-HRV monitoring was wildly variable depending on how I was holding it\n-COROS sleep monitoring and analysis is lacking vs garmin and other trackers \n-COROS Walk activity doesn’t let you set auto lap so it always laps at 1,000 steps instead of (for example) every 1 mile\n\nNone of these were others (besides the heart rate issue) were dealbreakers but they were, as you said, annoying.launch

Thanks Des, Enjoyed your review. I am an Apex Pro and Vertix user. I would be interested in knowing how the Apex 2 Pro GPS accuracy compares to the original Apex Pro. That sort of determines whether I upgrade. I use a Polar HR strap since my Apex Pro wrist HR is mostly crap. But I have found the Apex Pro GPS accuracy to be pretty darn good in Oregon. So I would be curious to see if the new chips set is better. All the best.launch

Maps are described as a breadcrumb trail overlay without road/trail knowledge, unlike true routable navigation, and the download process for offline maps was reported as cumbersome and slow.

For all that juicy information skip to 2:39!! 🤩 A quick summary is that I loved using the Apex 2.. a fantastic size and weight for us smaller athletes haha. HR accuracy is very good and the GPS is highly reliable! Battery life, well, it’s industry leading for this size. Music should allow us to “control phone” and there neeeeds to be a more user friendly way for people to download maps.. maybe through the Coros App, I struggled with the current method and spent nearly 8 hours trying to figure it out (and wait for it to actually download/upload) but.luckily @UltraTrailSteven had my back. I like the concept of effort pace, but at the moment it is just grade adjusted pace, so nothing new here. One thing to note about the maps is that it is not real navigation, just a bread crumb trail overlayed on a map with no knowledge of the underlying roads and trails (hence why it can’t give turn by turn directions). But materials on this watch are very good at this price point, with Titanium and Sapphire glass.launch

I loved my Coros Pace 2, but it has broken after just over 2 years. The bezel no longer catches, so the watch is unusable. Gutted as I was rooting for Coros and wanting more competition in the market, but I'm really dissappointed, they won't replace or repair as it is just outside of the 2 year warranty period.launch

I’ve been a coros user for over 3 years now and my only complaint (and it’s a big one) is about reliability. My first watch last 15 months before it had battery issues and was replaced under warranty. The replacement watch lasted only year before it became unresponsive and now my 3rd watch has failed. I love the battery life of the coros but it’s otherwise let down by poor components. It’s back to Garmin for me.launch

My Apex 46 mm crapped out on me all of a sudden. They sent me a replacement watch and this one has a battery that drains too quickly. They're sending me a third watch but at this point, I've almost lost all faith in the longevity of this kind of product. If I invest 300+ € on a watch, I don't want to use it for two years only. So, I had the opportunity to test it out and I must say that GPS is pretty bad when compared to a standard Epix 2 (non-sapphire), even with multiband enabled. It had me walking through buildings and my neighborhood is not challenging at all (non of my other devices struggle with it). There isn't a tall building in sight and the street is wide. Sigh. Seems like I'll be stuck with Garmin forever. 😂launch

I've had the Apex 2 Pro for about 2 months now, and I have found myself missing some of the health data I used to get from my Garmin, such as the reliable sleep tracking. My Coros seems to never get sleep tracking right. I also really miss having music control. However, the battery life is unreal and makes it entirely worth it. I recently tracked a climb of Mt. Rainier on a single charge on Dual Frequency GPS Mode (>28 hours of tracking over the course of 3 days) and was stoked that I didn't have to bring any charging accessories. I normally keep it in GPS Only mode, and can go for weeks of working out without having to think about charging it.launch

One user criticizes Coros's repair policy for scratched glass, which involves exchanging the watch for a refund of only about one third of the original price rather than an affordable repair.

Imagine buying a Coros watch - a sports watch - and then, for example, getting the glass scratched. You would expect it to be repaired at a fair price, right? But Coros, they exchange it and refund you about one third of the original price of the watch. This means you pay TWO THIRDS of the price of a new watch to get the glass replaced. While at least they are transparent about it on their website, I find this policy unacceptable. But all these reviews here only cover features, not the service or reliability and policy of the manufacturers. So that's where they can make the money. It's up to you to change that!launch
