Problem with Team group is they part swap a ton. You never know the specs of what they'll actually give you. I've gotten better drives and worse drives. It's just too much of guessing game, though they have some of the lowest prices.

At todays pricing, QLC still isn't quite doing it. Come right down to it, it isn't \"doing it\" at all.\nSee we have SLC, Mlc, TLC and QLC. Now we also have 4x4 which gives us four lanes of traffic moving along silmontaniously. Along with four lanes of traffick you need power for four lanes of traffic and you also must deal with the heat from four lanes of traffic. Adding 3D does help with \"that\" by adding a bypass lane to bridge the traffich around a clover leaf. Take the shortcut, use less fuel, generate less heat. Now we also have wear leveling...which is what gets it all out from under the buss.\n\nSo, we take our SLC, which has one layer of data, one bit per cell and it will eventually fail from being written over and over again. We learn how long it will last and decide it is much less expensive to have MLC which has two bytes of data stacked on top of one another. This doubles our drive capacity but our cells don't last as long because twice as many things will go wrong. So, we add \"wear leveling.\"\n\nNow, wear leveling isn't actually likle to be a phyiscal part of the ssd's design. You operating system probably is bright enough that doesn't write to the same part of the drive over and over again until it dies. This is pretty good as long as the SSD is empty it goes as planned. However, once your drive is half full then the other half of your drive is getting beaten to death at four times the speed.\n\nSo, if your 512gig drive was doing fine, a 1tb drive will do better unless you store a bunch of crap you never use on it. \n\nSo, I have an assortment of computers, all old refurbised units. This one has multiple drive bays and a flash drive slot. I bought a 256 endurance Micro sd drive and keep movies that I havn't watched yet on it. My other computer has only one drive bay and a micro SD slot and that one has the larger drive. To solve it all, I simpley store most of my movies and archival files on the old mechanical drive that I have accumulated over the years. This doesn't \"solve\" the problem that computer games can't really run well that way. However, making ceartan that my wear leveling has a lot of room does indicate that the drive form this computer will eventually need and external enclosure. I can just load an archival drive til it is getting bloated and never need to worry it is going to die because I usually only load it once.
