The C7L's Android TV platform earns strong praise for speed and flexibility. One long-term owner who upgraded from a Samsung Tizen set says the C7L (via the related C755) runs fast with no lag, supports nearly every app directly, and even allows apk installs, eliminating the need for a separate Firestick. They consider it on par with TVs costing two to three times as much, calling it one of TCL's biggest strengths over competing smart TV platforms.

Brightness is powerful but needs manual taming. Multiple users found the panel gets extremely bright, sometimes 'blinding' at 100 percent, especially when HDR content triggers auto-brightness in eye-protection settings. The common advice is to disable auto-dimming and cap brightness around 50 to 60 percent, both for comfort and to help preserve the mini-LED backlight's lifespan over time, rather than running it wide open by default.
