Your EarAmp's antenna is just a few centimeters above a wifi router. Not exactly recommended to set it up like that. Could've been better that it causes the dropouts. You sure that the frequency range, in which it operates is clear over there? \nDon't think the EarAmps is such a bad device and the culprit for the dropouts might be an external interfering signal.

Unfortunately, the range of the EarAmp overlaps allot of TV broadcast frequencies in the 470-500 MHz range around the Cincinnati/Dayton area

Squelch is a Noise Gate. It's a circuit that mutes noise & hiss when no signal is present. Changing its settings only alters the THRESHOLD at which it is triggered. It has nothing to do with reception. To the contrary, it may confuse you because it CAUSES Silence.
