I ran these speakers since the month they were released until a few days ago. Its been at least 5 or 6 years now maybe more, can't quite remember how long ago these were released. I can say they have survived a hurricane. My house was destroyed, I had trees through my studio space. A tornado picked up lots of my gear and spread it throughout the yard and surrounding woods. Some of my stuff i never even found. But I found my monitors in the yard. Full of water and debris. I took them apart and let them dry for like 4 months. I cleaned all the components with electronics cleaner and let it sit another week before firing them up. That hurricane was 3 years ago and they are still rocking today. So when it comes to durability, these things might survive the apocalypse.\n\nNow let me complain a tad. They aren't incredibly revealing. Poor compression decisions can get by you unnoticed with the e44's. These things have next to no low end at all. They give nearly 0 information of use below 120hz. It just drops off dramatically. Yes you can still mix down to 100hz maybe if you're used to them. Also the highs and mid highs are very harsh. Difficult to mix long hours on. They distort fairly easily. And the biggest problem I've had with these monitors is the translation from system to system. These monitors lie. They are big fat liars and cannot be trusted. Yes I am in a treated mix room. Rather large room as well. \n\nIf you want these monitors to give you the most information possible, you will want to crank the living crap out of them. To the point where they begin to distort and then back it off a hair. This will allow you to hear SOME of the bass response. Forget about sub response out of these. Hence the MtM arrangement. \n\nOverall I would not recommend these speakers if you plan to take mixing seriously. The only reason i have to use these speakers anymore is for when I track bands in their own space. I leave my kali in-8's at home and bring my e44's wherever I need. These are cheap and if they get banged up it won't matter. Although I think the experience I've had with these monitors suggest they are pretty hard to bang up.\n\nOh worth mentioning. When they took on the hurricane and tornado(s) and filled with water, the wood didn't even swell up and the vinyl didn't peel. In fact they still look like they came out of the box. The wood they are made of 100% should have swollen up so I'm not quite sure what miracle occurred here but they held their integrity entirely. \n\nIf you're looking for monitors in this price range I cannot suggest Kali audio enough. Save your ears and your money.

I have the E44, I work on urban music and I would not recommend them, the response in subsonic frequencies are non-existent. For mixing vocals they are quite acceptable but for full production it is quite complicated. In conclusion for urban music I would not recommend them because of the lack of sub-bass.

Hello, I bought a pair of these and I loved them, their sound and their mids and lows are very good, the stereo at another level, but I had a problem after three days one of them failed, an electrical humming started, it's a shame, I read that in that sense they are not very good or maybe it's a coincidence, they say that Presonus in general have heat problems, what do you think? Well I claimed the warranty and it looks like they will replace it. Thanks for your time.

I bought a pair and within a year, one of the speakers went caput, a month after the warranty ran out. When I reached out to Presonus, they literally washed their hands off and asked me to reach out to a distributor. The distributor tossed me to the store, Tom Lee and Tom Lee regretfully apologized that they could not do anything. They recommended a local repair person who has quoted almost the cost of the speaker to get it back on. \n\nSo, you save C$150 when you purchase and spend double the amount plus the running around eventually spending more than you save. \n\nI'm telling ya... there's nothing called \"free lunch\"!
