Six months ago, I posted a comment saying that I preferred the BLA. I bought myself a B173mk2. It turned out to be way too bright for my voice. Now that I’m rewatching your video, I realize that the Neve is the best preamp out there. The Grace comes in second—I liked that one, too. But I’ve ordered a Neve 1073 for myself.

Hi I had a chance to test Neve 1073IB And was my winner. However I diced to buy BAE Neve 1073 MPL 500 Series I was not so gobsmacked by the sound of it I definitely prefer sound of Neve 1073IB it's much thicker and powerful.

Appreciate you man! The full bodied weight of the Neve is next level and what I’m missing with plugins alone. I didn’t realize that unit is only $1000. My one question is, looks the RNC engaged for the Neve Take. If so, do you think I could achieve a similar sound with just a software compressor? I have a bunch (all the Waves ones, the CL1B, etc) Thanks again! 🙏🏼

Great video, thanks for posting. That Neve is on another completely different level. Sounds amazingly rich and full. Nice beefy low end that just punches through the speakers. It just gives your voice a lot of body and character. I think the M101 is a bit too harsh on condensers. Somewhat piercing and a bit sibilant. Still great sounding but I think it would be better on quiet dynamic mics like the SM7B. The black lion is a nice cross between the two. Sounds great but the Neve is very impressive. Thanks again.

Bought two of these puppy's about half a year ago. I'm still amazed each day of what these units can do. Even if you send a line signal through them. First day I installed them, I put a cheap DVD player on them, better stereo image, more in you face, better low end... Fantastic!

Thanks for this video. Have a Neve 1073LB, and am considering the EQ unit. To my ears, there were definite differences between the guitar sound from the non-linked and linked modules.\n\nEDIT: Listened with Audeze LCD's, a low-distortion headphone amp, and SoundID Reference. The non-linked version definitely sounds brighter, and not as warm on the low end.
