At this price point I was REALLY REALLY hoping they'd push for a Mini-led this year. Ugh.\nSo I guess I'm going for the Strix Scar 18 2026..\n\nThe 9i has better speakers but the Scar 18's screen is way better. I'm honestly shocked how much I like this thing. If I was in the market for a laptop this seems like it would be hard to beat. Especially for an 18\" laptop. It does so much right. It's highly up-gradable, plenty of ports, and just all around great looking. Plus over 7 hours of us for general use? Maybe if Lenovo has some great black friday or holiday sales. I've only JUST found out about the thermal interface material issue notebooks have...that most of these gaming laptops use material that needs to be replaced.\n\nThat rules this out for me, as I understand it, all of the 2025 Legion notebooks use a thermal pad that should last really well on both CPU and GPU, EXCEPT the 9, which rules it out (as well as Asus' and Dell's models) for me 😕\n\nBut does have me thinking of trying a lower end Lenovo for the first time.\n\nI'm not a fan of the lack of mini-LED or real HDR on this (or the Alienwares) either, though I suppose that's \"okay\", but... IPS just has such horrible contrast compared to VA or OLED or Mini-LED with I suppose VA or IPSlaunch

I bought one from Lenovo last year. $3,400 for a 16\" i9-14900HX/4090, 2TB/32GB config. Returned it in 2 weeks.\nI'm glad to see they made some improvement on the speakers and battery. too bad it comes at a cost of no 16\" option and price.\n\nLiked: \nSolid performance, on par with RTX4070Ti (desktop)\nBuild (awesome lid, reasonable weight at 5.6lbs/2.5kg and metal dist.)\n\nNeutral:\n3200x1600 Mini-LED screen (only halfway to OLED and 4k at this price point???)\nRGB- very flashy and can be controlled/toned down, but you could see plenty of flashing lights from every angle unless you turned it all off.\n\nDisliked:\nBattery life- the 14900HX has atrocious battery life. it lasted 40 mins on gaming, and just over 5 hours on ultimate power saving mode. I can make my OMEN Max 16 with a 5070 last 8 hours on power saving, and over an hour gaming.\n\"Audio by Harman\"- yeah no, the audio drivers took microsoft support an hour to turn on, and even then they were the worst in class of ANY gaming laptop- think $500 budget ones. \nThermals- WASD got hot, and the area near the power button was painful to touch, as well as the keyboard center. This laptop turned up the temperature in my house by a degree/.5C. \nFans- loud and blew hot air. unreasonably so while gaming.\n\nThe liquid cooling they advertised apparently only turned on when you hit 40C/104F on the outer parts of the device, which is pretty damn hot. I wouldn't be surprised if the deck hit 150F/60C. It was mostly the poor thermals and fans that made me return the device, and a little bit the battery life (I needed a portable device). I was debating this or a 2023 4090 blade for $3,200 on sale. It seems like I should have gotten the blade (which yes I know razer and issues and support). Now I run an HP OMEN MAX 16, with great cooling, reasonable fans, reasonable performance, decent battery, and more modest RGB for just $1300 (a steal for a 5070!).launch

Had my Legion 9 (5090, non-3D) for 2 weeks now. Some minor annoyances aside, I'm very pleased with it. It's supposed to be a secondary system, but I've used it much more than expected. \n\nI wish the screen was a Mini-LED, but that's my only major gripe. The IPS panel is superb, for an IPS.launch

Had my Legion 9 Gen 10 for a while now. I wish the panel was Mini LED, but the IPS panel on it is the best I've ever seen (but it's still a regular IPS). Keyboard and touchpad are both excellent, no complaints. RAM benched faster than the 5600 MT/s on my Legion 7. I also wish it came with the flagship AMD CPU, but that said, I've been impressed with the 275HX so far. It blows the i9 13900HX on my previous Pro 7i out of the water - but AMD 9955HX3D would have been better.\n\nVery happy with it so far though, not many complaints.launch

very comprehensive review, however I must stress on the fact that the glossy screen would piss you off definitely, unless you wanna always live in a dark room with no light in it, my friend got one and it was hell of a beast however he just returned it after 2 weeks!! Great review as always! I actually returned mine 😂 loved everything about it especially the thermal and fan noise. Except when gaming it occasionally freezes for like 1-2 seconds. Sometimes the screen would flicker too. It doesn't do it much but every time it does it gets annoying. Granted i did get a pretty decent discount for it, making it only $300 more expensive than pro 7 with same config. So maybe I got a defective product. I just ordered the pro 7, will see how the 2 different products feel.launch

I bought this one week ago and is bad is stuttering in games and in easy stuff like surfing the web. I will return it today. I used to be a big Lenovo fan untill now.Looks great , feels great but is broken and Lenovo failed to fix the stutters since last year. Before some of you will want to buy this I say wait and see it's not worth it. Great review.\n\nI did buy the 2024 9i last month (4090 w/64GB Ram) after seeing your 7i Pro review (which is what put me onto Legion laptops in the first place). I was looking at the 7i but the premium elements of the 9i lured me in. Cost me £3400. Unfortunately I had issues with it, stuttering in many games.\n\nI returned it and picked up a 2024 7i pro w/4080 on deal (£2300) and I've had no issues with it. I'm not the most tech savvy person so not sure what the issue was on the 9i, but looking on Reddit quite a few people have had the stuttering issue.\n\nOne thing that did suprise was how good the IPS panel is on 7i pro. It wasn't the huge downgrade I was expecting from the mini LED of 9i.launch

I think it is absurd that the liquid cooling is activated at 84 degrees. It would be much better if it worked continuously and the speed of the pump changed as the temperature changed. I think it would be much more efficient to keep it below 80 degrees rather than waiting for it to rise to 84 degrees. I also don't think this new cooling system can be called ‘liquid cooling’. This is because that liquid cannot be passed through a radiator. I'm also sceptical about whether the pump does anything. Because the pump rotates the hot liquid in the system, the liquid does not cool down while moving. So it's not like desktop systems. It would be fine without a pump.launch

I love this laptop. Paired it with a llano pad cooler and overclocked GPU and Memory to the max. Didabled the E cores and Getting 22k on Timespy with 23k GPU score. This thing is between a 3090ti and 4070ti in terms of performance and FPS from the testing that I've done. Framrates are killer, and the 3.2k sceeen js a perfect compromise. Temps are stable on the GPU at 64c during gaming. \nNow here is my only gripe, the GPU will NEVER reach 70C let alone 80C which means the pump for the water cooling will never turn on. So I wish that the Water cooler would actually cool the CPU instead of the GPU. My CPU averages around 74C. It will reach 82C during gaming but will quickly climb down once the fans kick in to high gear. If the Water cooling cooled the CPU I'm almost sure the CPU would never reach 80C.launch

I think the YouTuber Dave2d took apart this laptop, and had a look at the liquid cooling system. The problem was, there was no reservoir or a proper radiator to effectively cool down the circulating hot water, only the fans blowing air on the copper tubing of the liquid as it flows around. This meant that there are limits to the level of cooling that this would provide, with the system reaching saturation when all the water is at the hot temperature, resulting in the inevitable throttling.\n\nHowever, if you are running a game/task for so long as to heat up an entire loop of water, you probably need to use a desktop with a radiator/dedicated egpu itself.launch

That laptop with both chargers weigh less than just my laptop. My Alienware area 51-M R1 weighs about 8-10 pounds on its own and then has a massive 330 w and massive 280 w charger. The supposed liquid cooling in this is a gimmick in my opinion, however watched a video on this yesterday where this laptop was directly compared to a Razer Blade 16 and the Blade 16 is not worth 700.00 more than this laptop. The screen was just as color accurate as the Blade 16 and out-performed the Blade 16 in every game tested and almost all other tests. IMHO, neither this or the Blade 16 are worth the price.launch

as someone who bought one with all the upgrades except i kept the 4080 rtx and didnt upgrade to the 4090. i bought it cus my lifestyle atm doesn't allow for a desktop, and i wanted a rig that could do whatever i wanted it to do. also, i'm well aware that laptops inherently overheat, especially when gaming, so, i researched it hard, and everything said this was the absolute best. so, here i am. other than i need to figure out a settings profile that makes the battery life longer. the way i have it with the gfx all set up for gaming, i dont even get a full 2 hours just watching youtube. if anyone has any advice, id appreciate it. or is that what the 140w charger is for? the battery is basically just good enough to walk it from room to room? lollaunch

A friend of mine just bought one, but has a weird problem where in bios the VMD Controller does not stay disabled and we can not see any SSD's to install windows or use the laptop. I searched for long hours ,but could not find a solution. Some on the forums say its a bios motherboard problem and you can't do anything. Unless you update the bios.\n\nWhich, updates only if you have an operating system installed on it =)). And it was pretty expensive. I mean its a dissapointment that such a beautiful machine does not run and at this amount of money you can't use it and have to troubleshoot it =)))launch
